Our national debt passed $40 trillion for the first time ever, while interest payments alone cost about $1 trillion annually—more than what we spend on defense or Medicaid! Republicans and Democrats don't agree on much, but we can all agree that this can't go on. That's why I'm in Texas today for a bipartisan hearing on the urgent need to fix this unsustainable debt problem.
